I've got a new podcast!

Welcome to At The End Of the Day! I’m Hannah Sung and this week *ta-da!* we are introducing a brand new podcast.

The podcast is here!

I love writing this newsletter and always meant to turn it into a podcast but it took a little while because you know, life.

I started At The End Of the Day in 2020, writing the first one as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addressed the nation in a live press conference after the World Health Organization declared a global pandemic.

You know — you panic a bit, then you start a newsletter. Seems normal.

Two years and over 2000 subscribers (!) later, I feel slightly dazzled and mystified by how this newsletter helped me stay connected to you during a very weird couple of years.

So I need to start with a big thank you for always being there on the other end.

I’ve been writing almost every week, sometimes angry, sometimes exhausted, often searching for answers, always trying to process what’s happening in the world, not only out there *gesticulates widely* but also here at home, where I’ve been for a few years now (help, I sat down and I can’t get up).

Finally — you can subscribe to the podcast in all the places!

What you’ll hear

Every morning, I wake up to the news on the radio. War, tragedy, accidents — all before 7 am.

I’m trying to make a podcast that is for the opposite end of the day (not to mention the emotional spectrum). I’m making the podcast you can listen to at the end of the week to help process. That’s what I need, too, after all the emotional wear and tear of being alive to the world all week. Who wants to do that alone? Not me.

In the first few episodes you’ll be hearing from my friends, new and old, including comedian Ann Pornel of the Great Canadian Baking Show (pandemic = cake), filmmaker and author Sarah Polley, first lady of Iceland and author Eliza Reid (we went to school together) and my Media Girlfriends work family, journalists Nana aba Duncan and Garvia Bailey.

I never could have even gotten lift-off on this without our small but mighty At The End Of the Day podcast team led by producer and K-drama whisperer Olivia Trono, alongside Frances Kim (you can meet them both here) and ATEOD newsletter editor Laura Hensley. Big high fives all around.

While you follow the podcast, I’ll be trying to unplug this weekend. It’s been a wild work week. Meanwhile, my daughter took her hamster, Cheddar, to class today so it was an exceptionally good Friday for her and I’m trying to catch that high.

In other life news, I took a dance class for the first time during Covid (didn’t even notice wearing a mask the whole time!). It was just as amazing as it ever was. I loved reconnecting with my fave teacher, Diana Reyes, who you might remember from a newsletter I wrote last year.

Hope you’re doing what you love for the first time again, too.

Thanks for reading,

Hannah
